BANGKOK, 23 October 2011 – The Highways Department has exempted toll fee for drivers using the highway # 9 in another bid to help alleviate people’s difficulty during the floods.
Starting from today onwards, drivers taking the Bang Pa In – Bang Phli section of the Highway No. 9 or the Outer Ring Road will be exempted from paying toll at the Thanyaburi and Thap Chang toll gates until November 10.
Highways Department Director-General Wanchai Paklak said the toll exemption was made because part of the section was affected by the floods, posing difficulties to drivers. Charging the drivers while the highway conditions are still deficient will be unfair. The campaign is expected to facilitate those wishing to move out of the flood-hit areas and also the transport of aid to affected people at the same time.
