Samui International Airport currently handles 16,000 passengers per day and has an annual capacity of 6 million and serves 11 domestic and international routes operated by Bangkok Airways, as well as four other carriers.

Bangkok Airways, the operator of Samui International Airport, is planning to expand its operations following a rise in passenger numbers. The airport, located on the famous resort island of Koh Samui, saw over 1.4 million passengers from January to June this year, a 22% increase compared to the same period in 2023. This growth signals a full recovery from the impact of COVID-19.

In response, Bangkok Airways intends to increase the number of daily flights from 50 to 73, a plan that has received approval from the relevant authorities. The expansion will also include airport infrastructure enhancements over the next three years. These upgrades will involve expanding the passenger terminal, adding more boarding gates, check-in counters, and luggage carousels, and increasing the commercial space to 4,000 square meters.
