Bangkok and DLT discuss regulation of public transport services

Bangkok and DLT join forces to regulate public transport and improve safety.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok Deputy Governor Assoc. Prof. Tavida Kamolvej and Police General Adis Ngamjitsuksri, advisor to the Bangkok Governor, held a meeting with the Department of Land Transport (DLT) to discuss public transport regulation in the capital. The meeting, chaired by DLT Director-General Jirut Wisanjit, took place at the DLT headquarters in Chatuchak District.



Key topics included the registration process for motorcycle taxis with white plates across all districts, increasing the number of registered riders in existing motorcycle taxi groups, setting engine displacement standards for public motorcycles, and enforcing regulations on modified three-wheelers with excessive lighting and loud exhausts. Additionally, discussions covered discrepancies in the number of ambulances under Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) compared to the DLT database and the supervision of ambulance operations.

Also in attendance were Sittichai Aranyakanon, Assistant Secretary to the Bangkok Governor, executives from the Traffic and Transport Department, the Medical Services Department, and other relevant officials. (BMA)
