The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has commemorated 49 years of providing quality healthcare to people in Bangkok.

The BMA’s Health Department celebrated the 49th anniversary of its establishment at the Public Health Center 4 in Din Daeng district on July 13, with BMA Permanent Secretary Khajit Chatchavanich taking part in the celebration. Participants were provided with free dental operations, chest X-rays, retina checks, and pharmaceutical consultations to everyone joining the event.

The BMA’s Health Department was upgraded from a Public Health Division on June 13, 1974, and is responsible for providing healthcare services and other public health responsibilities required by related legislation to Bangkok citizens. It currently oversees 69 public health centers and 73 branch centers, providing services in four key areas: patient treatment, disease prevention and control, health promotion and rehabilitation, and public health service improvement.

Department executives, during the gathering, expressed readiness to continue delivering outstanding public health services, teaching people how to care for their health, and improving Bangkok citizens’ overall quality of life. (NNT)
