BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt visited Sukhumvit Soi 64, intersection 6-5, in the Phra Khanong district, following public complaints about delays in the 580-meter road improvement project, October 20. Residents reported difficulties accessing their homes and issues with rainwater flooding due to the prolonged construction. The contractor cited unfinished water pipe installations and persistent rain as reasons for the delays.
Governor Chadchart emphasized that weather should not be the sole excuse for the delays, stressing the importance of proper planning. He urged the contractor to prioritize the work, complete the water pipe installations, and accelerate the construction to allow residents easier access to their homes.
He also mentioned that penalties for exceeding the project timeline, as outlined in the contract, would be enforced. The governor instructed the district’s public works department to closely monitor the project’s progress to ensure it is completed as quickly as possible.
Governor Chadchart apologized to the residents affected by the delay and assured them that all parties involved would work swiftly to resolve the situation.
