GBC meeting was in Bangkok on Thursday, where the military of both countries discussed expanding collaboration in various affairs along the shared border.
General Prawit Wongsuwon, the deputy prime minister and minister of defense, and Dato’ Seri Hishammuddin bin Tun Hussein, Malaysia’s minister of defense, jointly presided over the meeting at the Army Club in Bangkok.
Officials at the meeting acknowledged the work results for joint initiatives set by the high-level committee manned by the supreme commanders of both countries. Those at the meeting also acknowledged results of regional border committee meetings and joint security operations, and discussed economic collaboration along the shared border. Other topics discussed included suppression of narcotics, human trafficking, contraband, transnational crime and terrorism. Signing of a cooperation agreement also took place.
Officials said after the meeting that results from the meeting will foster good understanding between both countries’ armed forces and contribute to sustainable expansion of bilateral cooperation.
