Celebrating Kimchi Day at Lan Khon Mueang with the art of Kimjang and a Thai twist—papaya kimchi!

BANGKOK, Thailand – The Korean Cultural Center in Thailand proudly hosted the “Bangkok in Love with Kimchi” event at Lan Khon Mueang, Bangkok City Hall. This vibrant celebration aimed to promote the art of Kimjang, the traditional kimchi-making process, while also raising awareness of Korean culinary culture, with a special emphasis on the beloved dish, kimchi.

The event was held in conjunction with Kimchi Day, celebrated annually on November 22. Worldwide, this day encourages people to innovate by incorporating local ingredients into their kimchi recipes.

In Thailand, Korean restaurants have creatively adapted this tradition by using papaya to make papaya kimchi, demonstrating a beautiful example of cultural exchange through food between Thailand and Korea.

The event culminated in the production of 750 kilograms of kimchi, lovingly crafted by participants. This delicious kimchi will be distributed to local residents, further fostering community connections and appreciation for Korean cuisine. (NNT)
