Bangkok International Digital Content Festival draws international participation

Bangkok, 15 August 2019 (NNT) – Thailand’s digital content industry continues to thrive in terms of animations, computer graphic games and educational technology. The Department of International Trade Promotion in cooperation with the private sector is now presenting the Bangkok International Digital Content Festival 2019.

The festival enables trade negotiations between Thai digital content entrepreneurs and foreign entrepreneurs representing nearly 40 firms from 12 countries such as Japan, South Korea, China and Singapore, as well as the world’s giant digital content firms such as the Walt Disney Company, CCTV of China and computer game developers worldwide. Trade negotiations are expected to be valued at no less than 850 million baht. The festival which runs until August 16 at Bangkok Marriott Marquis Queens Park Hotel, features animations, games, e-learning and emerging technology created by leading Thai entrepreneurs from over 40 firms.

Commercial specialist Chakarin Komolsiri of the Department of International Trade Promotion, said today that Thailand’s digital content industry is growing continually, with over 33 billion baht in sales reported last year and a forecast 10% increase this year. Such growth is due to changes in technology and lifestyles worldwide, prompting the creation of fast moving computer games and providing the opportunity for Thai entrepreneurs to prosper in the world market. The Ministry of Commerce has provided support for the digital content industry by opening domestic and international business networks and acting as an intermediary between government agencies and entrepreneurs under government policy towards Thailand 4.0.
