The Mass Rapid Transit Authority of Thailand (MRTA) has announced that the Pink Line extension project is progressing well, with 60% completion and an anticipated opening in 2025. The construction has already seen 66.9% of its civil works and 47.12% of its electrical installations finished.

Spanning approximately 3 km and costing 4 billion baht, the extension includes the addition of Muang Thong Thani Station and Muang Thong Lake Station. Construction started in June 2022, managed by the BSR JV Consortium, which comprises BTS Group Holdings, Sino-Thai Engineering and Construction, and Ratch Group.

The extension is set to greatly enhance public transport options for the 300,000 residents of Muang Thong Thani in Nonthaburi province and is expected to manage the influx of over 10 million annual visitors to the nearby Impact Exhibition and Convention Center.

When completed, the extension is projected to boost the MRT system’s daily ridership by 13,785 passengers. Bangkok Land Plc has invested 195 million baht to construct a 230-meter elevated walkway to connect the Impact Center to the Muang Thong Thani Station, improving commuter access and linking directly to the new lobby of the Impact Challenger Hall.
