A recent opinion survey conducted by the National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) reveals that a majority of Bangkok residents are satisfied with Governor Chadchart Sittipunt’s performance after two years in office. The NIDA Poll, which involved telephone interviews with 2,000 eligible voters from all 50 districts of Bangkok between May 16 and May 27, found that 50.25% of respondents were quite satisfied with his performance, while 18.45% were very satisfied.

The survey also explored the likelihood of voters supporting Governor Chadchart in future elections, with 40.75% affirming they would vote for him again if elections were held today. However, 34.50% remained undecided.

Respondents rated the governor’s performance across 17 different areas, with public parks and green spaces receiving a notably positive response—45.75% rated this aspect as good, and 19.60% as very good. His handling of garbage, dust, and wastewater management also received favorable reviews, with 44.30% marking it as good.

On the other hand, his management in areas such as flood control and corruption in city offices received mixed reviews. Flood management was rated good by 37.00% of respondents but was also noted as poor by 16.00%. Similarly, tackling corruption problems saw 30.95% rating it as good, while 18.35% considered it poor.

The survey illustrates a general approval of Chadchart’s governance, with a specific commendation for his contributions to public spaces and city cleanliness. However, it also highlights areas needing improvement, such as flood management and corruption, suggesting a complex landscape of public opinion on municipal governance in Bangkok. (NNT)
