Pongsakorn said that the communicable disease committee of Bangkok urged eatery operators to improve their premises to meet SHA and close their venues at 9pm as ordered.

The operators of eateries who want to sell alcoholic beverages in Bangkok must meet the Amazing Thailand Safety & Health Administration (SHA) standard, said Pongsakorn Kwanmuang, spokesman of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration.

Mr. Pongsakorn said that the communicable disease committee of Bangkok urged eatery operators to improve their premises to meet SHA and close their venues at 9pm as ordered.

Operators can seek SHA evaluation at thailandsha.com. After they receive a SHA logo, customers will evaluate them via an application. Besides, officials of the Tourism and Sports Ministry will conduct random checks on eateries, Mr. Pongsakorn said.

Entertainment venues such as pubs, bars and karaoke shops could apply for SHA in advance because the government was likely to permit the reopening of such venues that could pose disease transmission risks next month, the spokesman said. (TNA)
