BANGKOK, 18 January 2013  In preparation for the upcoming gubernatorial election, Bangkok’s Election Commission Office will designate 15 sites around the capital as campaign stages.

Those running for the Governor’s seat are required to register their candidacy at the City Hall during January 21-25 . Eight candidates including incumbent MR Sukhumband Baripatra have so far said they will compete in this year’s election.

The locations where candidates are expected to hold their election rallies include Lumpini, Benjasiri, Queen Sirikit, Chatuchak parks and Rama VIII Bridge park. Candidates need to inform the EC office three days prior to the day they intend to campaign at one of the sites.

The Office’s organizing committee will summon candidates and their teams to a briefing on proper conduct during election campaigns, at the Thai-Japanese Youth Centre on February 1.
