Deputy Governor Chakkaphan outlines the enforcement of new 2024 trading area guidelines, requiring vendors across the city to meet strict regulations or face relocation.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Deputy Governor Chakkaphan Phewngam chairing the 4th meeting of the Bangkok Orderliness Maintenance Committee on November 25, outlined the city’s plan for the implementation of the newly established guidelines for trading areas in 2024. The updated criteria, which were officially announced on August 29, require vendors across all 50 districts of Bangkok to comply with the new rules for maintaining order in designated trading zones.

The Deputy Governor emphasized the importance of ensuring that all vendors understand the new conditions. These include strict adherence to the regulations in order to maintain cleanliness, safety, and organization in these areas. As part of the enforcement process, all vendors will be evaluated by a committee consisting of three subgroups, assessing their compliance with the new conditions. Those who pass the evaluation will be allowed to continue operating in their designated zones under a conditional relaxation program.

However, vendors who fail to meet the criteria or violate the rules will have their trading space revoked, with relocation plans in place. The city has committed to helping those affected by the changes, ensuring that they are provided with alternative trading spaces and support to mitigate the impact of the transition.

Chakkaphan stressed that this initiative aims to create a more orderly and regulated trading environment for both vendors and the public, in line with the city’s ongoing efforts to improve urban management and public spaces.
