BANGKOK, Thailand – Dr. Wantanee Wattana, Permanent Secretary of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), extended a warm welcome to the delegation from Fukuoka, Japan, during a reception held at the Ramada Plaza Menam Riverside Hotel in Bangkok’s Bang Kho Laem district, December 22. The visit is part of the Bangkok-Fukuoka Technology and Cultural Exchange Program for the Fiscal Year 2025.

Dr. Wantanee highlighted the long-standing success of this exchange program, now in its 15th year. She emphasized the significant role of the Fukuoka youth delegation in fostering mutual understanding through shared knowledge of technology and the rich cultural heritage of both cities. “This exchange will deepen our appreciation of each other’s way of life and strengthen the bonds between our nations,” she stated.


The reception aimed to provide the delegates with a relaxing and engaging cultural experience after their journey. Attendees enjoyed vibrant Thai cultural performances, fostering a deeper understanding of Thailand’s artistic traditions and further enhancing the friendship between the two cities.

The Fukuoka delegation, led by Mr. Takenami Kenjiro, comprises 10 youth participants and two officials. Their visit to Thailand, from December 21 to 26, 2024, includes activities focused on learning and collaboration in technology and cultural exchanges with their Thai counterparts.


The event was attended by key officials, including Dr. Kesree Chantrapraphawat, Advisor to the Governor of Bangkok; Ms. Phitsamai Ruangsilp, Director of the Education Department; and other senior administrators and staff, who warmly welcomed the Fukuoka youth delegation.

The program underscores Bangkok’s commitment to promoting international collaboration and cultural understanding, strengthening its ties with Fukuoka through youth-led initiatives.

Bangkok Celebrates Winter with the Khon Performance Festival at Tha Tian

Bangkok’s Tha Tian Winter Festival invites locals and tourists to experience the grandeur of traditional Khon performances while supporting the city’s creative and economic growth. The event, held from December 21-24, 2024, from 4:30 PM to 8:00 PM at Tha Tian Pier Activity Plaza, features performances by renowned institutions, including private drama schools, Bunditpatanasilpa Institute, Wat Pho School, and the Duriyapraneet Foundation.
