BANGKOK, Thailand – Governor Chadchart Sittipunt inaugurated the city’s first solar-powered, air-conditioned bus shelter in front of Seacon Bangkae shopping mall on October 28. The “Seacon Air Condition Solar Bus Station” is a continuation of Bangkok’s project to introduce modern, energy-efficient bus shelters, following the success of the first station at Seacon Square Srinakarin. This partnership between Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Seacon Bangkae, and Cool Cool Company symbolizes the collaborative effort to enhance urban living and promote eco-friendly solutions in public transportation.
Governor Chadchart expressed gratitude to Seacon Bangkae and its partners for supporting Bangkok’s vision of a cleaner, more sustainable city. He emphasized that this project not only improves commuter comfort but also sets a positive example, encouraging further partnerships between public and private sectors to bring similar benefits to Bangkok residents.
Located at Seacon Bangkae on Petchkasem Road, near MRT Phasi Charoen Station, this innovative shelter is open daily from 5:30 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. The shelter spans 56 square meters and accommodates over 40 people. Its features include air conditioning powered by solar energy, free Wi-Fi provided by National Telecom Public Company, USB charging ports, a public water dispenser, CCTV surveillance connected to a central management system, an emergency panic button, and real-time bus arrival displays. Additionally, the shelter’s structure protects commuters from heat, rain, and PM2.5 air pollution, enhancing safety and comfort for public transport users.
The launch ceremony was attended by representatives from Seacon Bangkae, BMA, and other key partners, including National Telecom Public Company, Acme International (Thailand) Company, and the Metropolitan Police Bureau. This project aims to provide a model for future energy-saving, sustainable bus shelters in Bangkok.
