BANGKOK, Thailand – Bangkok’s Pink Line extension, connecting the Si Rat station to Muang Thong Thani, will offer free rides to the public for one month starting in late June 2025 ahead of its full launch in July.

The 3-kilometer monorail extension, consisting of two stations, is currently 85.97% complete, according to Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport Suriya Jungrungreangkit.

Trial runs are scheduled to begin in late May, preceding the free service period.

“We expect to open the full service on July 19, 2025, with fares ranging from 15-22 baht,” Suriya told reporters. The line will subsequently join the city’s 20-baht flat-fare policy in September.

The extension, designed to alleviate traffic congestion on Chaeng Watthana Road and improve public transport access to the Impact Muang Thong Thani exhibition and event center, will also feature a skywalk connecting the Impact Muang Thong Thani station to the Challenger Hall.

The project is part of Bangkok’s ongoing efforts to expand its mass transit network and reduce air pollution. (TNA)
