BANGKOK, 01 Oct 2013  – Officials of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) started laying sand bags in Bang Plat District located near the Chao Phraya River, in preparation for possible floods.

Director of the Bang Plat District Lukkana Phakdeenarunart and her entourage visited a unit at the district’s City Planning office, to inspect the sand bag packaging process.

The sand bags will soon be deployed in the district’s 9 flood-prone spots near the river such as Thonburi or Sang Hee Bridge, and Charansanitwong Road Soi 69. All of the 9 zones were hit hard by the 2011 floods.

The sand bags deployment operation will also be assisted by the military. The district has also prepared equipment necessary for handling floods and aiding residents in case of emergency.
