Issuing cheques when there aren’t enough funds in the account is a serious offence here in Thailand, one that can get you sent to prison.
This was the case on the 21st of November as Police armed with an arrest warrant detained a Norwegian national, 41 year old Mr Charlie Nierguard who had issued a cheque for many millions to a local businessman in Pattaya.
Nierguard was arrested on Tappraya road and transferred to the police station where he will face charges and a day in court.
