BTS extension line to Bearing station will be in service on Mother s Day

BANGKOK, 8 August 2011-Bangkok Deputy Governor Theerachon Manomaipibul has revealed that the BTS train will begin its first day of its extension line service from Onnut to Bearing stations on 12 August 2011 to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Birthday Anniversary. 

According to Mr. Theerachon, BMA Governor and a team of BMA executives will board the 1st sky train service between the said stations on the Mother’s Day at 5.15 hrs. The distance between the two stations is approximately 5.25 kilometers.

The extension line will be opened for service with no charge until 1 January 2012. The executives reportedly will discuss about the prices for the ticket going to Bearing station later on. The Deputy Governor added that the rail system is now 100% ready for a full operation.

As for the celebrations on Her Majesty the Queen’s 79th Birthday, the Deputy Governor said events would be held from 9-12 August at Sanam Luang, the Royal Plaza, Dusit Palace. Lan Khon Mueang and on Ratchadamnoen road. A religious ceremony will be taking place in the morning with 1,985 monks performing the sacred rituals. This is followed by the representatives from 5 religion institutions taking turns to express their wishes for Her Majesty the Queen.

However, there will be a candle-lit parade on the eve of Her Majesty’s Birthday starting from Misakawan intersection all the way through Ratchadamnoen Nok road and the Phanfa Lilat Bridge to the Democracy Monument and Sanam Luang.
