‘Buddhism Promotion Week’ held in Uthai Thani

UTHAI THANI – Uthai Thani Province is hosting the ‘Buddhism Promotion Week’ event in conjunction with the Vesak festival.

Provincial officers, students, teachers, and other members of the public numbering more than 1,000 attended a circumambulation procession and a candle-lit ceremony at Wat Mani Sathit Kapitatharam.

They also vowed to uphold the five precepts and follow the teachings of the Lord Buddha.

Buddhists in Thailand and many other countrie are celebrating Vesak which is one of the most important days in the Buddhist calendar that is observed in May. Also known as “Buddha Day”, it commemorates the birth, enlightenment and death of the Buddha.

The Buddhism Promotion Week also features an exhibition, Dhamma lectures, sermons, prayers, and alms-offering ceremony.
