The bus in Bangkok’s Thonburi district lost control after hitting an oil spill, causing it to get stuck on a high-voltage power line cable.

BANGKOK, Thailand – A female driver recounted a shocking incident while driving on route 167, between Kheha Rama 2 and Lumphini Park, that her bus had lost its control and became entangled in a high-voltage power line cable after hitting an oil spill at the Maihaisawan intersection. Fortunately, there were no injuries.

At 11:45 PM on February 10, the Bukkhalo police station received a report of the bus hanging from a cable that secured a high-voltage power pole, located along Somdet Phra Chao Taksin Road, near the Mahaisawan intersection in the Bukkhalo district, Thonburi, Bangkok. The orange air-conditioned bus was lifted off the ground with all four wheels suspended, its left side mirror entangled in the cable, preventing the vehicle from moving.

The driver, 34-year-old Apinya, explained that she had just descended from the Bangkok Bridge and was attempting to turn onto Chom Thong Road when she felt the bus sway. After the bus slid onto the cable, she noticed oil and water stains on the road. At the time of the incident, three passengers were aboard, but none were injured. It is believed that the slip was caused by the combination of oil and water on the road surface.

Initial investigations suggest that the bus lost control due to the oily surface at the curved section of the road. The driver attempted to steer the vehicle close to the left side of the road, unaware that the side mirror had become caught in the power line cable, which ultimately led to the bus getting stuck.
