BANGKOK, Feb 3- The Thai Cabinet on Tuesday approved visa exemptions for Bruneian and Thai diplomats and officials for periods of no more than 30 days.
Government Spokesman Yongyuth Mayalarp informed the press that the Cabinet agreed during its weekly meeting today, of a visa exemption between Thailand and Brunei Darussalam for diplomats and officials of both countries.
The agreement was signed by Deputy Prime Minister/Minister of Foreign Affairs Gen Tanasak Patimapragorn.
The visa exemption is aimed at strengthening ties between the two countries and to provide convenience to both parties to travel between each other’s country with a duration of no longer than 30 days, along with the terms for arrival and departure under the basis of mutual benefit.
The government spokesman, however, noted that both sides could also deny any entry or could shorten the length of any stay they saw as appropriate under the new agreement, to protect the peace, people, and public health of both countries.
