BANGKOK, 29 April 2011 – The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has suggested car owners to prepare necessary equipment inside their vehicles in case of emergency or accident.
According to DDPM Director-General Wiboon Sanguanpong, emergency tool kits will be useful to solving facing problems if cars break down during the journey. Car owners hence should prepare the kits for emergency use.
Recommended tools to use with car tires include a hand jack, a wrench and a spare tire as a replacement for one that goes flat or blows out. In addition, the spare tire should always be ready for use with appropriate air pressure level.
A car battery booster cable should also be kept inside the cars although batteries can still work well. A small fire extinguisher, plus other tools for pulling such as a rope and a sling wire should also be prepared. Car owners should also have a torch and a first aid kit in their vehicles.
Car owners are advised to study how to use them and keep them in appropriate places on their vehicles so that they will be at hand in case of need.
