BANGKOK, Thailand A 39-year-old caretaker, identified as Ms. Jansuda, also known as Phakbung, was taken into custody following charges of assault on a three-year-old boy, November 5. The suspect was remanded at the Northern Bangkok Criminal Court under charges of physical assault and violation of the Domestic Violence Act of 2007.



Authorities reported that the suspect had been questioned in the morning and later fingerprinted and processed for remand. While the investigation is ongoing, the severity of the boy’s injuries will be determined by medical examination, and additional charges could be filed if they are found to be serious. Throughout the interrogation, Ms. Jansuda remained silent and did not respond to media questions regarding her motives.

The young boy remains under medical care and the protection of social welfare officials, along with a seven-month-old boy also under the caretaker’s supervision, until family members can be reached. Police have denied bail and requested a 30-day detention period, divided into five rounds of six days each, as they prepare the case for trial.
