BANGKOK 14 May 2014 — Caretaker prime minister Niwatthamrong Boonsongpaisan has reaffirmed on a CNN interview that the current Thai government is still in control — adding that the people can expect an election to take place.
Mr. Nitwatthamrong, currently acting as the caretaker prime minister after former prime minister Yingluck Shinawatra was dismissed from her post by the Constitutional Court ruling, has reaffirmed in a CNN interview that the government is, indeed, still in control.
According to him, Thai people can no doubt expect a new election to take place in the future, saying that no matter what happens on the streets of Bangkok, the government still has every right to power and govern the nation.
Mr. Niwatthamrong also reiterated that the majority of the Thai people wanted an election to take place although a smaller group thought otherwise. However, the government must uphold the law and respect the constitution.
