BANGKOK, 28 July 2015 – The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) says it has stipulated the creation of a reform mobilization committee to carry on reform work after the election.

CDC member Dr Jate Dhonavanik said the reform mobilization committee will replace the National Reform Council (NRC) in ensuring the implementation of the country’s reform agendas. He says the CDC is currently in discussion with the government as to the exact duration of its tenure. However, preliminary discussions have agreed that the committee should continue to exist until a committee on reform and reconciliation is established to carry on its work.

As for the progress of the new constitution, Dr Jate says the CDC has now reduced the new charter’s provisions from 315 to 285 sections. It is currently in the process of fine tuning the constitution’s main principles, reform structure and reconciliation efforts.
