BANGKOK, 10 June 2-15 – The Constitution Drafting Committee (CDC) has concluded the process of gathering amendment proposals from the National Reform Council and the Cabinet.
CDC member Kamnoon Sithisamarn revealed that the Cabinet has proposed that Chapter 4 regarding reform and reconciliation be omitted and that the committees on reconciliation and reform be merged. They argued that matters of reform and reconciliation can be introduced later in the form of organic laws.
Mr Kamnoon agreed that the two matters would still hold the same weight, even if they were introduced as organic laws, while the new constitution would still hold true to its core agendas with its provisions calling for committees on reform and reconciliation.
