BANGKOK, 10 March 2015 – The Constitution Drafting Committee has started reviewing all articles of the draft charter before submitting the entire draft to the National Reform Council in mid-April.

The CDC meeting on Monday looked at the entire draft charter — the process that will take weeks to complete.

The review of the draft charter involves the deliberation of each of the 315 articles, with a focus on the wording and not the principle behind them given that it has been reviewed once already.

However, the CDC will also look at all pending details of any article, such as the proposal to set a minimum of one female political office holders for every two male colleagues, and make a final resolution for each issue before the final draft is submitted to the President of the NRC by April 17.

Apart from the review of the draft charter, the CDC has prepared a table of summary of the intent for additional law amendments to confirm that the charter drafters have carried out their duties as called for by the interim Constitution.
