Mr. Tharit Pengdit, Director-General of Department of Special Investigation (DSI) as member of the Centre for Maintaining Peace and Order (CMPO) revealed after today’s meeting that generally the general election went well in 68 provinces or about 89.1% of the total number of designated polling stations, with exception of some southern provinces and Bangkok districts which had only 10.9% polling stations open. However, the law dictates that the Election Commission (EC) needs to establish a re-election soon.
On the incident that some officials in certain electoral constituencies have been accused of intentionally obstructing the election by closing polling station ahead of time without sufficient reasons or resigned from their duty at short notice, the CMPO has granted the Royal Thai Police to conduct investigation and find the culprits.
The CMPO has also ordered the Royal Thai Police to speedily arrest culprits from the clash incident in front of Laksi District Office
