ROI ET, 11th May 2013 Deputy Prime Minister Chalerm Yubamrung has assigned anti-drug policy in Roi Et province.
The Deputy Prime Minister traveled to Roi Et province to enforce more sustainable anti-drug policies and met with Mr.Somsak Khamthawiphrom, the Roi Et Governor. Mr.Somsak gave his report on the results of Roi Et’s drug suppression and protection procedures.
According to the Governor, Roi Et has already created 1,294 drug free community networks, out of the 2,270 targeted communities, accounting for 57.01%. Authorities have reached 49.43% of youth targets in raising awareness on anti-drug campaigns, especially grade 5 and 6 school children, and have reached 33.91% of the targeted institutions most at risk. 489 drug arrest cases were made during 1st October 2012 to 26th May 2013.
As of today, 64.17% of drug addicts have been through rehabilitation processes, and 87.98% of the cases are under further treatment. Dr.Chalerm then assigned further anti-drug policies and initiated all related government agencies to urgently co-operate in the fight against drugs, stating that community leaders must thoroughly inspect areas under their jurisdiction at least 3 days a week and take immediate action if suspects were reportedly in the areas.
