BANGKOK, Thailand – A group of window cleaners in Khlong Toei district has resurfaced and is once again causing trouble for drivers. A recent video posted by the “Survive-Sai Mai Tong Rod” Facebook page shows one such gang harassing a vehicle owner after refusing to pay for a window cleaning service. The gang reportedly shouted insults and, in some cases, even resorted to damaging the vehicles.
The video was shared on February 28, with the page urging authorities to investigate the issue. The post recounts the experience of a driver who had encountered the gang while heading from Asoke to Silom. As his car stopped at a red light near Khlong Toei, the gang approached and began cleaning his windows, despite the driver signaling them to stop. After the service was completed, the driver refused to pay, resulting in the gang member shouting insults and walking away. The driver, worried about potential damage to his vehicle, decided to record the incident to protect himself. The gang member then continued to harass him, even as the driver tried to drive away.
The driver later called Thonglor Police Station to inquire about possible actions, only to be told there was little that could be done as the offenders would flee before the authorities could intervene and previously, none of other departments were willing to accept the cases. Frustrated but understanding of the police’s challenges, the driver expressed concern over the lack of a solution to ensure the safety of himself and other drivers in the area.
The driver hopes the Facebook page can help amplify the issue and encourage authorities to take action against the gang. In the meantime, he plans to avoid passing through that intersection for fear of further harassment or damage to his vehicle.
The driver also called on Pol. Col. Phansa Amrapitak, the Thonglor Police Station Commander, to take legal action against the group to protect law-abiding citizens.
