CHIANG MAI – Chiang Mai province is establishing a command center to deal with the cold snap this winter.
Head of the provincial public relations department in Chiang Mai Ubonrat Khongkraphan said the northern region’s meteorological center had predicted that winter would begin mid October 2015 and end around mid February 2016. The weather would be similar to last year and the temperature would be lowest from the latter part of December to January. The public and private sectors as well as a civil society network were working together to prepare assistance for cold spell-affected people in the province, said Ms Ubonrat.
The committee is responsible for advising people on how to care for their health and assisting those affected by the cold weather. The committee works with the provincial public health department in arranging mobile medical units and implementing instructions of the government to deal with the cold snap.
