Chiang Mai Zoo joins Region 5 police to help farmers

As part of efforts to assist farmers hit hard by the low price of rice the Chiang mai Zoo is joining the Region 5 Police in distributing rice from the Agricultural Co-operative.

Pol. Maj. Gen. Achawat Chotikasatiean, Acting Deputy Commissioner of Provincial Police Region 5, chaired the opening ceremony of the rice distribution center for Thai farmers under the “Provincial Police Region 5 helps Thai Farmers” Project with Nipon Wichairat, Director of Chiang Mai Zoo and Advisors to Provincial Police Region 5 (Police Management Inspection) and representatives of San Pa Tong Agricultural Cooperative, Phrao Agricultural Cooperative, and Nikomphrao Agricultural Cooperative joining the ceremony at the Sophon Damnui Building at the Chiang Mai Zoo.

From December 7, 2016 to September 30, 2017 people can buy good quality rice at a fair price directly from farmers at the Sophon Damnui building in front of the Chiang Mai Zoo.

Region 5 Police started the project to help farmers sell their rice directly and already offer markets at the Region 5 Police headquarters and at various markets around town.
