CHIANG MAI, 13 August 2014 — A famous tourist spot in the northern province of Chiang Mai is refurbishing its facilities to service Muslim tourists from neighboring countries in the expectation that their numbers will increase after the debut of regional integration into the ASEAN Economic Community.
The Chiang Mai Zoo and Aquarium has moved to speed up the full renovation of its prayer rooms for Muslims who visit the popular attraction.
According to the zoo director Karnchai Saenchaiwong, there will be two prayer rooms one for women and one for men. White marble has been laid on both floors and walls, and air conditioners will soon be installed.
The surrounding area is also under restoration for the comfort of Muslim visitors during their visits.
