China mourns victims of U.S. mid-air collision, confirms two Chinese nationals killed and calls for urgent investigation.

BEIJING – China has expressed deep condolences following the mid-air collision between a passenger plane and a U.S. military helicopter near Reagan National Airport on Wednesday night.

A spokesperson for China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that China extends its heartfelt sympathy to the victims’ families. In response to the accident, the ministry and the Chinese embassy in the U.S. immediately activated an emergency response mechanism.



The spokesperson confirmed that two Chinese nationals were among those killed in the accident. China has urged U.S. authorities to provide updates on the search, rescue operations, and investigation without delay while ensuring proper follow-up actions. The Chinese government also pledged to offer necessary assistance to the families of the Chinese victims.

The collision involved an American Airlines passenger plane traveling from Wichita, Kansas, carrying 60 passengers and four crew members, and a U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter with three soldiers on board. (TNA)
