BANGKOK, 22 July 2015 – China’s top political advisor has met with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-ocha during a visit to Thailand as the guest of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA).
The Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference Yu Zhengsheng, was greeted by members of the National Legislative Assembly and the Royal Thai Air Force’s commander at Don Mueang International Airport.
Mr. Yu then paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-ocha at Government House. Gen Prayut expressed his appreciation of the long-standing ties between the legislative bodies of the two countries and also thanked China for its understanding of Thailand’s political situation.
The prominent Chinese political advisor meanwhile gave an assurance that the Uyghurs repatriated to China by the Thai government are being treated justly under the principles of human rights. The Thai government had earlier sent 109 Uyghurs back to China at the request of Beijing.
The Chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference is scheduled to visit Thailand and Indonesia from July 21 to 28 at the invitation of Thailand’s National Legislative Assembly and the People’s Consultative Assembly of Indonesia.
