On the 4th November Chonburi’s Governor Wichit Chatpaisit, along with the Chief of Banglamung Chaowalit Saeng-uthai, visited the victims at Wat Yansongwararam Wormahavihan relief center in Sattahip.
They enquired as to the well-being of those there and were glad to see that people were making an effort to try and live together in these difficult circumstances.
At present there are 336 people as the centre, which can actually cater for 600, so there is plenty more room in the meantime.
There are more people arriving on a daily basis and the governor distributed relief bags to all the people.
He stated that Chonburi has a plan to accomodate the people in two phases, the first phases will accomodate 10,000 and when that is full they will use a second area in Sriracha.
The governor added that there is one concerning issue, there is too much fresh food leading to leftovers even after distribution to poor people.
He requested for all food donations to be made at the call center as he fears that there will be leftovers; currently, the people are not eating 3 meals per day but actually eating all day.
However the centre still needs some other good s such as fans, mattresses, sarongs and loincloths.
