CHONBURI, 28 July 2015 – Chonburi province has strengthened its measures on illegal entertainment venues and street racing in accordance with the government’s policies designated by the National Council for Peace and Order’s (NCPO) Chief.

Chonburi Governor Komsan Ekkachai, stated that the NCPO Chief’s orders are on measures to bring an end to the problem of street racing by cars and motorcycles on city roads as well as measures to assert control over entertainment-like venues. The move is aimed at preventing inappropriate behavior by those under 20 years of age, in entering such venues, while also keeping an eye on alcohol sales in venues located near educational institutes or dorms.

Any venue found to have violated the regulations such as allowing those under 20 into inappropriate venues or selling them alcohol, beer or other means of intoxication, will face maximum punishment which is a 5-year closing of that particular venue. Further investigation will also check whether the venue is within the educational institute’s 300-meter distance or not.

Moreover, the general public has complained about troubles caused by motorcycle racing on the roads, therefore measures have been implemented in order to prevent further societal problems and prevent possible group gatherings that could later cause damage to others in society
