BANGKOK, 23 June 2011 – The Department of Mental Health has reported that the mental health condition of Bangkok people has been in crisis since people tend to experience the emotion control problem.
Mental Health Department Director-General Medical Doctor Apichai Mongkol admitted that capital city dwellers are at risk of having mental health problems because their happiness is reducing while stress is increasing.
Medical Doctor Apichai explained that the level of patience in Bangkok people is declining, and so is their anger management ability; therefore, they have difficulty in controlling their emotion and tend to express violent behaviours.
The director-general raised as example the recent case of Major Hathaiporn Imwitthaya, a military doctor who is now in coma after a hit-and-run incident in front of her house. He said the driver must have been in a strong tension and low emotional quotient which put him out of control.
Medical Doctor Apichai then suggested that capital city dwellers should adjust their attitudes, perceive things positively, and have sympathy for others. He also warned them not to let the city’s hustle life and competitions make them pessimistic and obstruct development of their emotional control.
