BANGKOK, Thailand – The Thai Meteorological Department reports that high-pressure systems and a moderately strong cold air mass from China are currently affecting upper Thailand and the upper southern region. This weather pattern is bringing cool to cold temperatures to the North and Northeast, with mountain peaks and highlands experiencing very cold conditions.
In Central Thailand, including Bangkok and its surrounding areas, as well as the East and the upper southern region, cooler weather persists. Residents in affected areas are advised to take precautions against cold-related illnesses and to remain vigilant against potential fire hazards due to the dry weather conditions.
Meanwhile, the Northeast monsoon, which is relatively strong, continues to affect the Gulf of Thailand, the South, and the Andaman Sea. Some southern areas may experience isolated thunderstorms.
Marine Weather Conditions:
Lower Gulf of Thailand: Waves reaching 2-3 meters, with heights exceeding 3 meters during thunderstorms.
Upper Gulf of Thailand: Waves around 2 meters.
Andaman Sea: Waves approximately 1 meter, with heights over 1 meter farther offshore and exceeding 2 meters during thunderstorms.
Boat operators are advised to navigate with caution, avoid areas with thunderstorms, and for small boats in the lower Gulf, refrain from setting out to sea at this time.
Air Quality:
Upper Thailand is experiencing moderate levels of dust and haze due to average air circulation, with dust accumulation expected to remain steady.
Advisories:
Residents in colder regions should prepare adequate warm clothing to protect against illnesses.
Mariners should exercise caution, particularly in the lower Gulf of Thailand, where the weather conditions are most severe. (TNA)
