Commemorative coins issued honouring HM King’s Humanitarian Soil Scientist award

BANGKOK, 30 November 2015 – The Treasury Department has issued new commemorative coins celebrating His Majesty the King’s achievement in receiving the Humanitarian Soil Scientist award from the International Union of Soil Sciences.

The Treasury Department director-general Chakkrit Parapuntakul revealed that the department has issued special commemorative coins to celebrate His Majesty the King, who has been presented with the Humanitarian Soil Scientist award from the International Union of Soil Sciences.

The commemorative coins also promote His Majesty’s remarkable talent in soil development for Thai farmers. The coins will be available in three variations, namely the polished gold 16,000 baht coin to be sold at 30,000 baht each, the polished silver 800 baht coin to be sold at 1,600 baht, and the white alloy coin made from copper and nickel selling at 20 baht each.

These commemorative coins will be available for purchase from 1 December 2015 onwards at the Treasury Department in Bangkok, the Bureau of Monetary Management in Pathum Thani, the local treasury offices in 76 provinces, and via the e-catalog system available on www.treasury.go.th.
