BANGKOK, 20 March 2015 – The third auction of rice from the government stockpile has been postponed to prevent the price from decreasing further during the second-crop harvest, Commerce Minister Chatchai Sarikulya said on Friday.
Gen Chatchai said the Ministry of Commerce expected rice process would increase soon as the country has received an order to deliver 200,000 tons of rice to the Philippines. The government is also planning to sell two million tons of rice to China.
60 central farm markets will be established across Thailand so farmers can have a direct marketing channel. The markets will also help farmers get fair prices, the minister added.
