Contemporary paintings to commemorate 75th anniversary of Thailand and Lao PDR diplomatic relations

The activity constitutes a part of series of activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Lao PDR in 2025.

H.E. Ms. Morakot Sriswasdi, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to Lao PDR and Mr. Nikorndej Balankura, Director-General, Department of Information and Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, together with H.E. Mrs. Darany Phommavongsa, Vice Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism of Lao PDR, attended the unveiling ceremony of the contemporary paintings under the theme “sharing rice from the same field, sharing fish from the same river”, painted by renown Thai and Laos painters namely Mr. Thaweesak Srithongdee (Lolay) and Mr. Mick Saylom along with their family members on 26 August.

This activity constitutes a part of series of activities to commemorate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the diplomatic relations between Thailand and Lao PDR in 2025. The paintings are displayed for public viewing around the vicinity of the embassy. This event garnered significant interest from the Laotian side and was honored by the participation of several renowned artists and national artists from Laos.

This event is part of the project “Street Arts through the Lens of Thai and ASEAN Artists” by the Department of Information, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The project involves sending contemporary Thai artists to create artworks in ASEAN member countries to raise public awareness about cooperation under the ASEAN framework and to promote bilateral relations between Thailand and the ASEAN member countries on the occasion of the anniversary of diplomatic relations. Laos is the second country where the Ministry is implementing this project, following activities in Indonesia. (MFA)
