BANGKOK, Thailand – Thailand’s Meteorological Department reports that cooler morning temperatures and scattered thunderstorms are expected in upper Thailand, with a temperature drop of 1-2 degrees Celsius in some areas and strong winds in the northeastern region. Lower parts of the north, northeast, and central regions, as well as Bangkok, its surrounding provinces, and the eastern region, may experience isolated thunderstorms.
According to the Meteorological Department, a moderately to strong high-pressure system or cold air mass from China is moving over upper Thailand and the South China Sea. This system is causing cooler morning temperatures in upper Thailand, with a drop of 1-2 degrees Celsius, accompanied by strong winds, particularly in the northeastern region. Mountainous and highland areas will experience chilly to cold conditions.
Meanwhile, a westerly wind system from Myanmar is expected to cover the western part of the northern region, while upper easterly and southeasterly winds will affect lower northern, lower northeastern, lower central regions, as well as Bangkok and nearby areas, and the eastern region, resulting in isolated thunderstorms and occasional gusty winds.
Residents in upper Thailand are advised to take precautions against cooler temperatures. Farmers should prepare to protect their crops from potential weather-related damage.
In the south, a monsoon trough is affecting the lower southern region, while a moderate northeast monsoon is covering the Gulf of Thailand and the southern region. This weather pattern is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall in some areas of the south. Residents are cautioned to be vigilant against potential flash floods and runoff, especially in low-lying areas and near hillsides.
