BANGKOK, Thailand – The Meteorological Department forecasts cool to cold weather with morning fog across the northern and northeastern regions of Thailand. Central Thailand, including Bangkok and its vicinity, as well as the eastern and upper southern regions, will experience cool mornings with light fog.

A high-pressure system and cold air mass continue to cover upper Thailand and parts of the southern region. This will bring cool to cold weather with fog in the morning to the North and Northeast. Central Thailand, including Bangkok, and the East will see slightly warmer conditions, with light fog in the mornings. Mountainous areas and highlands will remain cold to very cold, with occasional frost in certain spots.

Meanwhile, easterly and southeasterly winds are bringing moisture from the South China Sea and the Gulf of Thailand into the lower Northeast and East, causing isolated light rain in these areas. Residents in upper Thailand are advised to stay warm and exercise caution while traveling through foggy areas. Farmers should also prepare for possible impacts on their crops due to fluctuating weather conditions.

In the South, moderate northeasterly monsoon winds across the Gulf of Thailand will bring scattered rain, especially to the lower southern regions. Waves in the Gulf of Thailand are expected to reach heights of around 2 meters, with areas of thunderstorms seeing waves above 2 meters. Mariners should exercise caution, particularly in stormy conditions.

Additionally, Tropical Storm “Phabuk” over the South China Sea is predicted to approach the eastern coast of Vietnam on December 25-26, before weakening into a low-pressure system. While this storm will not directly affect Thailand’s weather, those traveling to affected areas are advised to monitor conditions closely.
