BANGKOK, April 10 — Suvarnabhumi Airport is expected to be crowded during the long Songkran holiday weekend and passengers are advised to arrive 2-3 hours earlier for check-in.
Suvarnabhumi Airport Director Vilaiwan Nadvilai said 1.6 million passengers are expected to use the facility between April 9-18 or 164,000 passengers daily on average.
She said 85 per cent would be passengers for international flights while 15 per cent would be domestic travellers.
Ms Vilaiwan said during the period, 19 regular airlines and charter airlines have asked to increase their numbers of flights to a total of 427 flights. China Eastern Airlines has increased 182 flights.
She said Suvarnabhumi has prepared upgraded security measures and facilities for passengers. A coordination centre has been set up to facilitate travellers as a result of collaboration among airlines, the Immigration Bureau, Tourist Police and Customs Department.
Ms Vilaiwan also advised passengers to arrive at the airport early for check-in procedures as long queues of travellers are expected. Passengers for international flights should arrive three hours in advance and two hours early for domestic flights
