BANGKOK-The Ministry of Culture is considering allowing double tax deduction to Thais who donated to the Cultural Heritage Fund.

According to the Culture Minister, Weera Rojpojanarat, it has always been the Ministry’s plan to offer double tax deduction to those contributing to the Fund. The deduction was once offered temporarily as an incentive to people who donated to cover the expenses needed to restore historical sites damaged by the flood in 2011.

Mr. Weera said the tax deduction scheme is also in line with one of the government policies aimed at preserving Thai culture. Those who wish to donate to the fund will be able to choose to make contributions to 5 different funds.

They include funds for creative media, cultural work, contemporary arts, archives and archaeology. The double tax deduction will be applicable to both personal and corporate income taxes.
