BANGKOK, Thailand – The Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Thai Red Cross Society and various organizations, is presenting a series of Thai cultural performances at the Annual Red Cross Fair 2024. Taking place from December 11 to 22 at Lumpini Park in Bangkok, the event honors His Majesty the King’s 72nd birthday anniversary and raises funds for the Thai Red Cross Society to aid underprivileged and disaster-affected communities.
The fair features various performances organized by agencies under the Ministry of Culture. Highlights include Likay folk theater by the Office of the Permanent Secretary for Culture, episodes from The Ramakien Epic by the Department of Fine Arts, and traditional Lakon Nok performances. The Department of Cultural Promotion will present folk art, including Mor Lam, Lam Tad, Nora, and human shadow puppetry. Contemporary offerings include a stage show by the Bunditpatanasilpa Institute and modern music sessions by Chongkraben and Sabai Ensemble, curated by the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture.
Over 30 organizations are also contributing to the central stage at the fair, offering Thai classical dance, traditional and modern folk performances, displays of royal court costumes, and renditions of royal compositions. Audiences can attend these activities at Lumpini Park or view them online via the Ministry of Culture’s social media platforms and the Thai Red Cross Society’s website. (NNT)
