BANGKOK, 6 June 2014 – The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) has resolved to withdraw the curfew in four additional areas frequented by tourists after viewing that the local situation is peaceful.
The NCPO has released an announcement to cancel the curfew in Cha-am district of Phetchaburi province, Hua Hin district of Prachuap Khiri Khan province, Krabi province and Phang Nga province. The decision was made based on the assessment that the atmosphere in those areas was calm and there was no tendency for political violence to occur.
The revocation of curfew is part of the NCPO’s intention to alleviate the impact on people’s daily life. On June 3, the curfew was lifted for the first time in three tourist destinations, namely Pattaya City of Chon Buri province, Koh Samui of Surat Thani province and Phuket province.
As for the rest of the country, the curfew will remain in effect until further notice, with the restricted hours running from midnight to 4 am.
