Cyclone ‘Dana’ set to hit India and Bangladesh

BHUBANESWAR – Indian authorities have canceled train services and issued warnings to fishermen, urging them not to venture out to sea, October 23. Evacuation preparations are underway in vulnerable areas as Cyclone “Dana” is expected to make landfall along the eastern coasts of India and Bangladesh tomorrow.

Currently located in the Bay of Bengal, Cyclone Dana is expected to intensify, with wind speeds reaching up to 120 kilometers per hour. The storm is likely to strike the eastern coast of India and southern Bangladesh on Thursday. In response, over 200 train services have been canceled in Odisha, and evacuation efforts are being ramped up in high-risk areas.



Officials predict heavy rainfall over the next three days in Odisha, which could lead to significant damage to homes, roads, agricultural areas, and power lines, as well as cause flooding and landslides. Schools in Odisha will remain closed until Friday, and fishermen have been advised to stay ashore.

In Bangladesh, meteorological authorities have also issued warnings to fishermen and coastal ports in the southern region, urging them to prepare for the storm. (TNA)
